Silicone skin feels smooth and firm-soft, cool until heated, and heavier than it looks. XYcolo shapes that feel with its silicone grades and optional body heating.

Silicone vs TPE: how the skin feels
A doll’s skin is either silicone or TPE (thermoplastic elastomer). TPE is usually the squishier of the two. Silicone feels smoother and firmer, stains more slowly and, at XYcolo, comes in several grades of different softness.
Smooth and firm-soft; multi-layer grades with an ultra-soft inner layer narrow the gap
Softer and squishier, its main selling point
Surface
Less porous; picks up stains more slowly
More porous; releases a little oil and stains faster from clothes
Tackiness
Owners report organic PRO skin smooth without powder; basic platinum silicone likes talc
Reports differ on whether it is stickier than silicone
Smell
Usually none, or faintly sweet
Often rubbery at first, usually fading within a week
Side seam
A thin mold seam stays; XYcolo calls its 157 cm body “almost seamless,” and its one-piece models have no neck seam
The seam can be smoothed out
How XYcolo silicone grades feel, from PS to PRO PLUS
Choosing an XYcolo doll by feel starts with the grade, because each one changes softness, makeup and weight. XYcolo describes them this way:
PS (platinum silicone)
The entry grade, which XYcolo calls soft and heavy, with light makeup. In 2024 the brand said PS is priced at the level of TPE dolls.
OS (organic silicone)
Lighter, with permanent makeup, and the grade XYcolo says most photographers prefer. One owner calls the skin “really smooth, non sticky.”
PS PRO and OS PRO
Multi-layer bodies: a PS or OS shell over an ultra-soft layer that XYcolo designs to imitate muscle and fat. A firmer surface on top, a softer layer beneath.
PRO PLUS
The same soft layer, made thicker in the seat and thighs. XYcolo says most buyers won’t feel the difference and PRO is enough for a first doll.
On doll forums, an organic PRO owner found “no tackiness” and called the skin “as close to real skin as anything I have felt on a synthetic doll”; another described the same grade as “squishy and sort of memory foamy.” A PS PRO owner reported “medium softness,” with a tougher shell over the softer layer. One more found organic PRO on the firm side, with soft areas that hold still, which suited photography.
In 2026 XYcolo introduced a super-soft silicone it says it developed itself, and since August 2026 it says every one of its dolls is made from it. XYcolo has not explained how super-soft relates to the PS, OS and PRO names, so ask the seller to confirm the grade in writing. The chest is cast from the same silicone as the rest of the body, with no gel insert, and XYcolo says that makes it a little firmer than a gel-filled chest.
Temperature: cool to the touch, warm with heating
Silicone holds room temperature, so an unheated doll feels cool. XYcolo’s answer is built-in body heating, offered since January 2022 on a 151 cm one-piece model and since October 2022 on the 153, 163 and 171 cm PRO bodies. It runs on 36-volt power through a small adapter that ships with the doll, and the head stays unheated. In 2022 XYcolo priced the option at about $450.
01
Plan ahead
XYcolo says 1.5–2 hours of heating is enough for the first warm-up.
02
Top it up
With the temperature control on, the brand describes about an hour of heating every 4–6 hours.
03
Stop at two hours
XYcolo warns that heating longer than two hours at a time is unnecessary and risks hot spots above 50 °C (122 °F).
04
Check by hand
Thick silicone warms more slowly. One owner found the arms and legs warm after about 90 minutes, hands and feet cooler, and the area near the connector too hot, so they switched it off.
That owner found the warmth lasted about two hours and summed it up as “no more cold silicone on a winter’s morn!” Hands, feet and the thickest areas stay cooler than the rest.
Weight: a doll feels heavier than it looks
XYcolo lists its bodies at about 23 to 45 kg (51 to 99 lb), depending on height and silicone grade, and says its figures can be off by about 2 kg. OS is the lightest grade; PS and the multi-layer grades weigh more, and one owner of a shorter doll noted that the multi-layer option “adds a lot of weight.”
XYcolo’s 160 cm one-piece model in super-soft silicone is listed at 38 kg (84 lb), about half the 78 kg (172 lb) of an average American woman of about 161 cm (5 ft 3 in), according to CDC data for 2021–2023. A doll can’t shift its own balance or help you lift it, though, so moving one takes more effort than the number suggests.
One XYcolo owner sums it up as “soft enough but not mushy like TPE and not hard at all… she feels substantial.” For heights, weights and the space a doll needs, see full-size dolls.
Do sex dolls feel like the real thing?
The skin comes closest, according to the people who own one. No lab has tested it: a 2020 review of research on sex dolls and robots found no study that used actual dolls, so owner reports are the evidence. XYcolo owners praise the skin and hands most, and the trade-offs they mention are mechanical.
What owners praise
Smooth, non-sticky skin on the organic and multi-layer grades
Detailed hands and feet with jointed fingers
Warmth that lasts about two hours with the heating option
What to plan for
A thin seam along the sides
Silicone at the hips stretches when the legs are spread wide
Joints with less range than a person’s; one owner’s jointed fingers bent less than 90°
A firm chest with little movement, since there is no gel insert
How to choose a doll by feel
01
Pick softness or shape
Very soft grades feel closer to skin but dent more easily; XYcolo itself says PRO PLUS can deform if left in one position for long.
02
Get the grade in writing
Listings often skip the silicone grade. Ask the seller to confirm it, since the grade changes softness, makeup and weight.
03
Be honest about weight
Compare the listed weight with what you can lift and carry. Multi-layer grades add kilograms; OS keeps the body lightest.
04
Decide on heating
Heating is an option you add at order, and a warm-up takes 1.5–2 hours, so it suits planned use.
05
Ask for factory photos
Owners report receiving photos of their doll for approval before shipping, the closest you get to seeing the finish in advance.
Feel also depends on care: powder keeps some grades smooth, and dyes from clothes stain the surface. Cleaning and storage are covered in how long sex dolls last.

What does a sex doll feel like: FAQ
Do sex dolls feel like the real thing?
The skin comes closest. Owners praise XYcolo’s multi-layer grades as smooth and close to real skin. Weight, temperature and movement still differ: a doll is room-cool unless heated, can’t shift its own weight and has joints with less range than a person.
Is silicone or TPE softer?
TPE is usually softer. Silicone feels smoother and firmer, and multi-layer silicone with an ultra-soft inner layer narrows the gap. Silicone also wins on upkeep: it is less porous and stains more slowly, while TPE releases a little oil. XYcolo makes silicone dolls only, so you set the softness by choosing the grade.
Do sex dolls feel cold?
They feel cool, because they sit at room temperature. Some XYcolo dolls offer built-in body heating that takes about 1.5–2 hours to warm up. XYcolo warns against heating for more than two hours at a time, since hot spots can pass 50 °C (122 °F).
What is the most realistic feeling sex doll?
Among XYcolo owners, the organic and multi-layer grades, which put an ultra-soft layer under a firmer shell, draw the warmest comments on skin feel. No independent test ranks dolls by touch. The same grades weigh more and dent if left lying in one position, so the most realistic feel for you balances softness, weight and care.
Why do some dolls need powder?
Powder keeps some silicone surfaces smooth rather than slightly grippy. One owner says basic platinum silicone needs talc, while the multi-layer organic grade does not. Use plain talc or cornstarch without additives, applied after the doll is washed and fully dry. Powdering is also part of preparing a doll for long-term storage.
